DINis abbreviation for the German Institute for Standardization (short: DIN). The DIN is the national standards body of the Federal Republic of Germany, based in Berlin. DIN is a registered association and is privately supported according to a contract with the Federal German Government and is the relevant standardization organization for the European and international standardization activities. It provides a forum for manufacturers, retailers, industry, academia, consumers, and government testing laboratories to develop so-called stakeholders in consensus standards.
